First Selectman Fred Camillo announced the latest confirmed cases of coronavirus, though no other information was released about individual cases, including their genders or ages.
One patient remains isolated at an area hospital, while the other five entered a self-quarantine at home as a precaution, Camillo said. The three new cases come a day after a state of emergency was declared in Greenwich.
Health officials noted that none of the six positive cases had contact with each other and they are all being monitored daily as they backtrack to see who they may have interacted with before being isolated.
Schools in Connecticut will remain closed through at least Tuesday, March 31, and area residents have been advised to embrace “social distancing” to help curb the spread of the virus.
Under the town’s emergency declaration, Town Hall has been closed to the public, playgrounds are shut down, civic centers and other places where large gatherings can be held are closed.
Residents are being asked to stay home whenever possible, and more preventative measures may be coming, including temporarily shuttering the doors to some businesses.
